Staff Care's Brian Squibbs on the Importance of Locum Tenens VA Jobs

To help underline the important role that locum tenens physicians and clinicians can play in optimal VA staffing nationwide, the Locums Link Blog recently spoke to Brian Squibbs, Director of Account Management for Staff Care's Emergency Medicine Recruitment Division.

A long-time member of the team — Brian joined Staff Care more than a decade ago, on the "day after celebrating our Independence, July 5th, 2005" — Brian talked to us about his time in the military, why he loves working in healthcare, and the importance of the healthcare industry to fulfilling the nation's debt to the millions of veterans across the United States — of whom there are 21.8 million, according to U.S. News & World Report.

"At the ripe age of 18 (literally on my 18th birthday), I stepped foot on the groups of the Marine Core Recruit Depot in Sunny San Diego," Brian recalls. "While it was a most important period of my life, I was a-one-and-done, and took the skills learned into the private sector."

Today, Brian leverages that experience in service of veterans nationwide. "Increasing healthcare access to the men and woman that served our country" is an important way that the healthcare industry can improve patient care for our nation’s veterans, Brian told us.

"No one likes war, but these men and woman are much needed in protecting our borders and keeping us safe each and every day," he said. "As they call it quits from active duty service, it is our duty as a country to wrap our arms around them and take care of them in spirit, mind and body!

"In addition, I love the opportunity I have been blessed with in working for those that take this seriously through their hard work and tireless days, in our Staff Care employees, physicians and practitioners," he added.

"Specific to the healthcare staffing market, we are bridging the gap and connecting physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses and allied staff in facilities nationwide, government and private, increasing access to healthcare all across this great country!"
