Employee Spotlight: Chris Rogers, Senior Recruiting Consultant

Chris Rogers of Staff Care

For Senior Recruiting Consultant Chris Rogers, being passionate and driven is the key to being successful in his work each day. Having a military background, it is Chris’s nature to push himself to the best of his ability, which contributes to his success when recruiting candidates daily. He also finds gratification in the work that he does each day knowing that he is helping save patients’ lives when placing a physician in a healthcare facility.

Thankfully, all of Chris’ hard work has not gone unnoticed. He has been recognized by Staff Care President, Sean Ebner, for his tremendous passion and has even been rewarded as top recruiter for two different specialties throughout his career at Staff Care. Chris has more than proven his worth as a recruiter and will continue to perform his best no matter what.

As a true U.S. Navy veteran, when Chris is not working he makes it a priority to go to the gym every day to work out and stay in shape. However, when he is not busy keeping fit, he occupies his free time by going to swim meets and soccer games with his wife to watch his two daughters competing or spending time together at their home in Fort Worth, TX.

How long have you worked with AMN/Staff Care?

Almost 7 ½ years. I started off as a marketer originally and then moved to recruiting thinking it would be a better fit and it was a much better fit for me, I've really liked it. I spent 5 years in radiology and then left the company for a year and came back and have worked in hospitalist ever since.

What do you like to do for fun outside of work? Do you have any hobbies?

Hit the gym and I most recently got into boxing. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and my two daughters, one is 12 and one is 17, and they pretty much take up all of my time going to all their different activities.

What’s one word to describe yourself? Why?

It’s really hard for me to talk about myself so I had to go ask somebody, and they said dedicated, driven and passionate. For me, passionate is the one that kind of stood out the most. Last year was the most money I’ve ever made and I went and told Sean how much that impacted my family and after apologizing for getting emotional he told me that was pure passion. It’s a word I hear a lot and something I strive to be.

What attracted you to working in the healthcare industry?

I worked in IT previously and that was 80 hours a week (minimum) and had some friends that got into the healthcare industry and they loved it so I knew I wanted to get into that industry as well. I had no idea what locum tenens was until I did some research and discovered that the demand for locum tenens physicians was on the increase, and the fact that I get to impact the patients being taken care of by finding a physician is something I really enjoyed.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I like the fact that I get to talk to doctors from all walks of life. The fact that they’re in medicine and then to find out their interests on top of it is just really interesting to me. I had one doctor that owned a house in Malibu, California that I put on assignment in Alaska and he then bought a house up there and got into dog sledding, just because I put him in assignment up there. So it’s kind of cool that you get to find out about the different activities physicians do when we place them.

If you could have any job in the world, other than working at Staff Care, what would it be?

I would want to be a resort reviewer, or whatever that title is called. Going all over the world and staying at resorts and writing up reviews would be so cool.

Can you share a fond work-related memory?

Probably being able to win recruiter of the year twice in two different specialties. I won it once in radiology, and that was when we had 20 recruiters so competition was really thick, and being able to win it last year in hospitalist was pretty awesome.
