Happy Physician Assistant Week 2017 from Staff Care

Happy Physician Assistant Week 2017 from Staff Care

Happy Physician Assistant Day from Staff Care! Celebrated every October 6, PA Day, as it's commonly known, also officially kicks off National Physician Assistant Week, a nationwide effort to raise awareness and visibility of the nation's hard-working PAs.

The very first Physician Assistant Day was held on October 6, 1987, to mark the "20th anniversary of the first graduating class of PAs from the Duke University PA program," explains the AAPA. "October 6 is also the birthday of the profession’s founder, Eugene A. Stead, Jr., MD."

50 years later, PA Week receives more attention than ever. Physician assistants have become a more crucial component of America's healthcare industry, helping to increase access to care, particularly in rural areas experiencing physician shortages.

With all this in mind, we want to take a moment to say thank you to all of the physician assistants throughout America — and to remind the nation's healthcare employers that these hard-working, versatile practitioners are available to work locum assignments in all 50 states.
