Staff Care’s status as the nation’s leading locum tenens recruitment firm relies largely on the admirable leadership of our divisional vice presidents. And one of those leaders in particular — Jana Reed, Divisional Vice President of Delivery for Staff Care’s Primary Care, Psychiatry, and Dentistry divisions — truly exemplifies the characteristics necessary for a great leader each and every day she walks through the door.
Throughout her 13-year career at Staff Care, Jana has not only learned but mastered the ins and outs of the locum tenens industry, giving her a rare level of expertise in her role. She began her career as a recruiter and account representative within our surgery division before working her way up to her current role as divisional vice president. Those around her attribute that successful rise to her joyful personality, as well as her willingness to help others at any time.
Although Jana has certainly found her niche at Staff Care, healthcare recruitment was not always her career path. Born in Guymon, Oklahoma, Jana attended Northeastern State and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in exercise physiology, with a minor in psychology. She then began teaching science at a local North Texas high school called Nimitz.
It wasn’t until she was referred to Staff Care by her brother-in-law that Jana was introduced to the healthcare recruiting industry.
A ‘Very Rewarding Career’ with Staff Care
“On a whim, I came into interview having little to no idea of what Staff Care provided and have managed to stay here for 13 years now,” Jana told the Staff Care Insider. “When I originally started looking it was for a job, but thankfully this turned into a very rewarding career!”
Now working in this field, Jana has developed a deep appreciation for the healthcare industry as a whole. According to Jana, “There comes great pride with knowing how we affect the healthcare market and provide services for those who may not receive medical care if our physicians are not in place.
“Thousands of people are seen every day in hospitals, ER, clinics, government facilities, and prisons by Staff Care clinicians, so what we do day in and day out truly makes a difference in the lives of others.”
Jana also enjoys not only watching but helping the employees around her grow from start to present, “professionally, personally, and financially.”
When she's not busy working with healthcare facilities and clinicians, she finds joy spending time with her family at their home in Rowlett, Texas. When asked how she and her family keep busy in and around their home, Jana responded, “I have three boys who are 17, 10, and six years old, and a crazy, loving dog Smokey, who all keep me very entertained and are always running around.
“When I am not at a high school football game for my husband, who has been a coach for many years, or at my boys’ activities, I love spending time at the lake and with my family,” she added.
