Celebrating her third year anniversary with Staff Care this month, Melissa has a natural affinity for those who travel for a living (or even for a part-time job). She’s literally a born traveler: As part of a military family, her birthplace was Clark Air Base on the Philippines’ Luzon Island; she also told us that she spent her childhood “moving every four to five years, spending time in Oxfordshire, England; Mountain View, California; and Riverside County, California.”
“I spent my early adult life traveling around to San Diego; Kahului, Maui, Hawaii; and Las Vegas, Nevada — ending up back in San Diego when my fiancé was accepted to the University of San Diego’s graduate program.”

Locum Travel Tips from Staff Care
A Locum Housing Specialist with a Love of Travel and a Background in Community Service
Not only is travel in Melissa’s DNA, but her career has also encompassed two other areas that make her uniquely suited to the locum tenens housing profession: community care and university housing.
“I’ve worked with developmentally disabled in group homes in Las Vegas, Nevada, as a house manager,” she told us. “I also spent time housing college students at San Diego State University” before joining the Staff Care/AMN Healthcare team in 2013.
Melissa now leverages that experience with housing and travel to help Staff Care’s locums travelers secure the best possible housing accommodations for their locum tenens assignments. It’s hard to shake the travel bug, though.
“I enjoy traveling when I can, but I spend most of my free time indoor rock climbing or playing video games,” she told us. “When I do get to travel, you’ll find me taking handstand photos whenever I go somewhere new!”
