As a sales team member at Staff Care, persistence is key. It's essential for these professionals to have an unfailing persistence when contacting clients at healthcare facilities to offer Staff Care's premium physician and clinician staffing services. Michelle Dunn, one of our Senior Managers of Sales, finds this characteristic to be a key to success not just for her own work, but for new Staff Care sales members as well.
With a seven-year career at Staff Care to her name — on top of a good deal of previous healthcare experience — Michelle has discovered in herself a passion for healthcare, and for being able to have an impact on our society. She walks into the office each day eager to speak with clients about the services Staff Care offers to help meet staffing needs in the face of ongoing physician shortages.
Michelle has exemplified what it takes to be a top employee within this company — part of the reason why she's received Marketer of the Year three times throughout her career in our psychiatry division. Again and again, Michelle has proven herself to be an asset at this company, and will undoubtedly continue her success in the future.
When Michelle isn't busy working with clients or training new sales employees, she finds enjoyment in traveling with her husband or spending time with family members at their home in Flower Mound, Texas.
What’s your story, Michelle?
I was born and raised in Kansas, right outside of Wichita, and attended Wichita State University. I stayed in Wichita up until 1998 when my husband and I moved to Texas.
I got into healthcare when I got out of school and started working for a promotional products company for advertising specialties. One of the clients that I had done business with worked in a hospital, and after 4 years of doing business with him, he offered me a position at the hospital in HR. So I got into healthcare through that avenue and became HR director before moving to Texas.
After our move, I was picked up by another hospital as an HR director and worked there through a merger that relocated the position and that’s when Staff Care picked me up! Now, as a marketer I have the opportunity to work with other HR directors as our clients.
How long have you been with Staff Care?
I have been with Staff Care since October 2007, where I started out as a recruiter in Primary Care for a couple of years and switched over to a marketer position and have been in that role ever since.
What do you like best about working in the healthcare industry?
Working with the clients and knowing how many people we’re touching the lives of in such a short period of time. At the end of the day, just knowing how much we contribute to our society each day is where I find the most enjoyment. I also really enjoy “the chase” in this industry and striving to communicate with as much clients as possible and offer our services to help them.
What do you enjoy most about working at Staff Care?
I most enjoy working directly with sales team members in training and being able to help them meet their goals. I get a lot more excited to see their success and making their small victories sometimes more than with my own successes. I feel like the better I prepare someone for a position and for his or her success, the better off they are to prosper in their teams.
If you could have any job in the world, other than working at Staff Care, what would it be?
I’ve always wanted to be a personal shopper, or have the opportunity to be an “undercover boss." I would love to be able to go in and see how people are growing and directly see the direct impact of our work on the lives of our people. I just think that would be the coolest thing ever! I’ve seen the different trials and tribulations of different people throughout my years at Staff Care and have been able to see how those people have grown, which I thoroughly enjoy.
Tell us about your favorite Staff Care memory.
I would say my favorite memory was the first time I made Marketer of the Year. It was such an honor being recognized for the impact I had made in my division, and hearing the words my RVP gave me when presenting the award really hit home for me.
What's the one thing in life that you can't live without?
My chocolate! I’m a total chocolate fanatic and it would be extremely difficult to live without.
