What to Do if Your Locums Flight Is Delayed or Cancelled

When it's time to travel to from your next Staff Care locum tenens assignment, it’s important to remember that the standard rules and realities of business and recreational traveling apply here, too: Namely, it’s often a lot of fun; but occasionally, it can also be a bit of a challenge.

For a number of reasons, travel by flight has become increasingly difficult and congested in the United States — globally, too — to the extent that the airlines themselves have issued complaints against the airports in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

“I am writing to express the serious concerns I have regarding staffing issues at airports throughout our nation,” said Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) in a letter to TSA Administrator Peter Neffengervia The Hill. “One recurring complaint I hear from airport officials is current staffing allocation models do not adequately correspond with the airport’s needs.”

Yes, long security lines and backed-up check-in desks have become a commonplace site in many American airports. What Should You Do if Your Locum Tenens Flight Is Delayed or Cancelled?

With that in mind, while you're on the way to your next Staff Care assignment, here's what to do if your flight is delayed or cancelled. If you’re already at the airport and checked in, please see your flight’s airline representative immediately to be rebooked on the next available flight. Chances are good that you'll simply be rebooked onto the next flight with little actual delay.

If your flight is disrupted and you’re not already at the airport or haven't already checked in, please contact your Staff Care Travel Specialist, or our Travel and Transport line at (855) 823-5824 to have your flight and/or rental car reservations adjusted. If your flight has been delayed to the extent that you may be late to your assignment, or that you'll miss your rental car pick-up time, we'll notify the facility of your delay, and have the rental car reservation adjusted as necessary.

In the event that we can anticipate potential delayed or canceled flights, we preemptively send out emails to alert our travelers. If you’re about to travel either to or from your locum tenens assignment, we strongly encourage you to make sure your email's SPAM/junk filter isn’t blocking these important messages. They also include direct numbers to a Staff Care Travel and Transport representative.
